On July 4th, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress which stated that the thirteen American colonies were now a free nation, breaking away from the British Empire. Over 200 years later, we continue to celebrate our "Independence Day" with 4th of July fireworks, events, drinking and eating... lots and lots of eating.
This year I am going to celebrate 4th of July by Declaring my Food Independence:
"When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the unhealthy bands which have connected them with obesity and to assume among the powers of the earth, the nutrition and healthy living to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them. That healthy eating and fitness will increase one's life span, increase one's energy and increase one's happiness in life and if one respects their bodies they should declare separation from fast food, unhealthy eating and laziness.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men should be educated on healthy living, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable standards of healthy living, among these are fitness, healthy foods and a healthy body. And to secure this lifestyle, humans should be vastly educated on healthy living and eating foods to fuel ones body.
We, I, therefore the representative of healthy living, that I am and have the right to be free of the way of life that had previously led me toward obesity. Our knots are tied, our Carbs are cut and our fat is dissolved, and that I, being educated and strong willed, have the right and will power to eat healthier, be healthier and live a healthier lifestyle."
