If you haven't heard, after 7 years in the vault, Disney is re-releasing Cinderella on Blu-Ray/DVD October 2nd. After learning about this exciting news, my little girl jumped for joy and I was a little excited as well! So, we decided in celebration of the release, we would throw a Princess party with a screening of the movie. Before we headed off to Walmart to prepare for the party, we first checked out The Royal Ball Augmented Reality 2.0 App on the IPad2.
Bella was sucked into the "Royal World" right away and who can blame her?! The App started off with the cutest little introduction with a couple of royal birdies delivering an invitation to the Royal Ball. Inside the invitation, there is a map to the Princess Boutique, the Carriage Shop and the Royal Palace.
Just like a girl, Bella headed right to the Princess Boutique and started putting together her outfit for the ball. After she picked out her pink (of course) dress, she picked out some shoes and a crown to accompany it! She then headed off to the Carriage Shop to build her ride to the ball. One of the coolest thing about this App is that after putting together the outfit and carriage, one can then take a picture of yourself wearing the dress and attending the ball!
After a good 30 minutes totally enthralled in the Royal Ball App, we headed off to our local Walmart to find a Princess dress for Bella to wear to the party and some party supplies! We were really surprised at how easily it was to find a Cinderella dress. The costumes were the first display we ran across once we entered the store and the princesses dresses were right at the entrance of the aisle. When Bella spotted the dresses, she ran right for the Cinderella dress. She knew exactly what she wanted! We could not stop there, every princess needs her accessories. So, we picked out a wand, crown and some slippers. We then noticed a Cinderella accessory box with a crown, slippers, purse AND jewelry all in one! Score!!!
Now that Bella has her outfit together, it was time to find some party supplies. I must admit, I was extremely impressed with our Walmart's selection in Cinderella party supplies. We picked up some plates and napkins, center pieces, cupcake liners, decorations and even some Cinderella candy necklaces to give to our guests. The entire display was so well put together and made us even more excited about our upcoming princess party!
On of way through the store, Bella spotted the Cinderella toy display. When I spotted the display, I knew this could be trouble and I was right. The first thing she asked me was if she could have a Cinderella doll. Using my super mommy instincts, I reminded her that she should start working on her Christmas list and she could put a Cinderella doll right on top. She thought about it for a second and changed her mind. She said she will be placing Cinderella's horsey on top of her list instead. She is an animal lover after all!
Once we returned home with our bags full of Cinderella supplies, Bella changed into her princess dress at mach speed. She just couldn't wait to get into her dress and attend the Royal Ball using the App! And who could blame her? The Royal Ball section starts off with the cutest little girl all decked out in her princess attire stepping out of the carriage and making her way to the Royal Ball. Once inside, the dancing begins! Little birdies guide you around the dance floor using arrows to show you which direction to turn. Bella was twirling around the room in her gown the rest of the night! We had such a great time using The Royal Ball Augmented Reality App and an even better time shopping for the princess dress and party, we can not wait for the movie release and our celebration for it!
We will also be attending the Retailtainment event at Walmart on October 6th from 11:00am to 3:00pm. This event will be filled with fun activities including pumpkin decorating, Cinderella coloring sheets and interactive activities for the kids! It should be a blast, so come on out with your daughter (decked out in her gown of course) and join the festivities! This event is in limited stores so be sure to check with your local Walmart to see if they are holding an event near you!
You can check out our entire Walmart trip on Google+ and leave a comment letting us know who your favorite Disney character is? You can also visit Disney on Facebook and Twitter letting them know how much you enjoyed The Royal Ball Augmented Reality App and check out Cinderella's Facebook page for more inside scoop!
Stayed tuned for my follow up post on the Retailtainment Event and Princess Party!

ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to look up this app! Taylor loves Ariel the most, as for as favorite princesses, and I love Belle. But Cinderella is certainly a close second! I can't wait to get the DVD for her. I don't think she's ever seen Cinderella.
