On November 9th, The Amazing Spiderman is being released on Blu-ray/DVD. As you can tell, my kids are Spider-Man fans! My son has had a Spider-Man birthday party for two years in a row, he has dressed up as Spider-Man for Halloween two times and regularly pretends to be Spider-Man fighting crime in his room! So, as you might expect, The Amazing Spider-Man being released on DVD is a huge event for him! In honor of the big event, we spent last Friday night hosting a family movie night where we watched an advance copy of The Amazing Spider-Man and played with the Webslinger Augmented Reality App.
I headed to our local Walmart with Spider-Man himself (my little boy, Zachary) to prepare for our big night. Our first stop was the deli section to pick up a MarketSide pizza., it was
The Webslinger App and Google Play
When we arrived home, the kids could not wait to play with the Webslinger App. They have had the movie for awhile now and have been activating Spider-Man on it by hovering the IPad over the movie cover. But now with the MarketFresh pizza box AND the movie cover, they can activate both Spider-Man and The Lizard to battle each other in a sewer arena. The Lizard did get a few good hits in but "good" prevailed in the end!
The Webslinger App has so much to offer, not only does The Lizard and Spider-Man come to life and battle each other but your Spider-Man fan can also star in their own comic. Just line your face up with the outline, take a picture of yourself and enter the comic world. This was a family favorite, each of us took turns taking pictures of ourselves and starring in our own comic! Even the dog got in on the comic book action!
With all the Spider-Man fun we were having, the kids did not want to leave the Spider-Man world. So while the pizza cooked, they continued their Spider-Man adventure while playing with the figurines we purchased at Walmart. Of course symbiote Spider-Man (that is the black Spider-Man, see I know all the Spider-Man lingo!) chose to be The Lizard and battle "good" Spider-Man. No matter the age or gender, Spider-Man brings out the fan in all of us.
"You owe the world your gifts. You just have to figure out how to use them."
The appeal of Spider-Man has been around for years and it goes beyond the action figures, costumes and special effects. It is the underlying message that Spider-Man sends that appeals to us on a deeper level and a message we hope is instilled in our children. Use your gifts but use them for good. Do not sit around and let your talents waste, use them to change the world, use them to help others, use them to make a difference but remember with great gifts comes great responsibility.
You can check out more of my shopping experience and movie night activities by visiting my Spider-Man Google+ album. You can also connect with Spider-Man on Twitter and Facebook and let them know how much you enjoyed the movie and Webslinger App.

ReplyDeleteThis is so much fun! Daughter *just* discovered SpiderMan (she was too involved with princesses to worry about super-heros!), and she's into crime fighting, too! I think it's pretty awesome when the kids take up these roles and make some good in the world. (And the memories rock, too!)
