Body Transformation Contest Week 2

It is now week two of the body transformation contest and I am down about 6-7 pounds.  I might not be showing it much but it is these little accomplishments that have me so motivated!  Well, that and an IPad2.  I am feeling healthier, I am feeling stronger and I am starting to see some progress.

Even Zach is noticing it!  I was getting ready to go work out a few days ago and he walks into my room and tells me this:

Awwwww,  What a sweetheart!  He knows just the right things to say to me sometimes.  And Wow, if he can start to see a difference then I really must be looking good!  Heck yeah I am!  And it's just week two... wait til this contest is over.  I am going to be a lean hot momma.... no stopping me.  I better get to the gym!  I turn to leave...

Ego. Deflated.

Body Transformation Challenge (Week 1)

So, the body transformation contest at my boot camp started last week.  I had to get dunked into a body fat tank.  That was... interesting....  The hardest part about it was having to blow out all of your air before going underwater.  Its not natural to want to get RID of air before going under.  The other hard part about it was seeing the results! It was higher than I expected.  But, that just means I have more to lose to win this contest, right?!  Remember the prize, and IPad2!  So, here is my progress so far:

Day 1
Breakfast
2 eggs
banana
Lunch
Salad with dressing (fat free low cal dressing)
tuna fish (plain)
Dinner
8oz grilled chicken breast
Soup (made with broth and frozen veggies)
Snack
2 cheese sticks

~1000 calories consumed.
- Did not exercise today.

This is NOT good. I was busy today and skipped a lot of the snacks I should have eaten.  But my target is to eat between 1500-1700 calories a day.  The lower amount (1500) when I do not exercise much.  This is so my body does not go into starvation mode and starts storing fat.

Day 2

Breakfast
2 eggs with ham
Snack
banana
protein shake (this was taken within 45 minutes of my work out)
Lunch
Salad with dressing
8oz Chicken breast
banana
Snack
Soup
cheese stick
almonds
Dinner
Tilapia

~1620 calories consumed today.
-Boot camp (intense) workout for 45 minutes today.

Day 3

Breakfast
2 eggs with ham
banana
Snack
banana
protein shake (drank 30-45 minutes after workout)
Lunch
Salad and dressing
chicken breast
Snack
soup
almonds
Dinner
Ground Turkey Chili over brown rice
(this recipe was made with ground turkey, chicken broth, salsa and chili powder)

~1850 calories consumed today
-Boot camp (intense) workout for 45 minutes.

I went a little over my calories for the day today. I think I really did not need the extra banana but the key is to listen to your body and I ate when I was HUNGRY.

Day 4

Breakfast
2 eggs and ham
Snack
banana
Lunch
Salad with dressing
Turkey chili over brown rice
Snack
soup
almonds
Dinner
Chicken Fajita in a whole wheat tortilla
Snack
cheese stick

~1500 calories consumed today.

I did not work out today so I stayed on the lower end calorie wise.

Day 5

Breakfast
Oatmeal
banana
Snack
protein shake
Lunch
Salad with dressing
Chicken sausage
cheese stick
Snack
Soup
almonds
Dinner
Ground turkey burger with cheese on wheat thin
soup
cheese stick

~1500 calories consumed today.
-Yoga for 1 hour today.  Was not a very intense workout so I did not consume too many calories.

Day 6

Breakfast
2 eggs, ham and salsa
Snack
banana
protein shake
Lunch
salad with dressing
2 turkey patties with cheese
Snack
soup
almonds
Dinner
Grilled chicken breast
steamed green beans and red potatoes

~1680 calories consumed today.
-1 hour of power Yoga today.  Intense!

Day 7

Breakfast
2 eggs with ham
Snack
banana
shake
Lunch
salad with dressing
turkey burger w/cheese on a wheat thin
Snack
soup
almonds
Dinner
Tilapia
steamed green beans and red potato

~1525 calories consumed today.
-Boot camp for 45 minutes today.  Intense!

So, this is what I ate and exercised the first week. I only listed my exercise classes, there was a few days that I also walked for about 30 minutes on top of my work outs.  One thing I did realize about eating this week was that I ate to provide fuel for my body instead of just eating because I wanted the taste of something (usually chocolate).  Like I said before, I did not feel like I was starving at any time.  When I was hungry I ate and felt satisfied.  One thing I want to work on in the following weeks is finding new healthy foods (I am already getting tired of eating some of the same things) and cutting back on the soup.  Although its healthy with the veggies and virtually no calories, the broth is too high in sodium and that just can't be good.

All in all I think I had a great week.  Oh and I guess you are wondering how much I lost?  Well, I have not really been concentrating on the scale since that is not how we are being evaluated.  I did weigh myself a couples of times and I think I lost about 3-4 pounds.  Probably water weight with the way I have been peeing.

Which reminds me!  I cut back to 2-3 cups of coffee a day and drink water the rest of the day.  Trying to drink atleast 100 ozs of water a day but I think I am more around 50-75 ozs.

Let's see if this next week can be just as good or even better!

My Niece Jilly

I have a niece Jillian, we call her Jilly.  She is like a third child.  Her and Bella were born 6 weeks apart and for the first 3 years of her life Greg watched her during the day while my sister and brother in law worked.  I want to share this story because first it's funny. Secondly, I don't want to forget these moments later in life!  (blackmail)

Jilly has no balance whatsoever.  Clumsy Clumsy Clumsy. Every day she would have a new bruise or scratch.  And it is not like she was wild and jumping off things. She trips over her own feet or over the FLAT ground.  And whenever any of the kids hurt themselves Greg becomes a big softy.... holding them, kissing their boo boos.  It is really sweet.

So the kids were playing and Jilly starts to cry.  She hurt herself once again.  "Come here Jilly, What happened?"

Oh.

Weight Loss Competition

So my gym (bootcamp) is having a weight loss competition starting this Monday. The competition will last for 3 months and the person losing the most % body fat at the end of the 3 months will win an Ipad2.  An Ipad 2! niiiiice.  So of course I was interested in taking part in this.  To begin with I think I have a great chance because most of the people that attend the gym hardly have any body fat to lose.
Although, I am so sure I am going to win this thing I do have a few reservations.  First off they are doing some super precise measuring technique of measuring body fat.  Each person will have to get into their swim suits and get into some sort of dunk tank to measure the body fat.  I am sure this will be monitored by one of the super in fit trainers at the place.  I am not looking forward to this....

But it did get me to thinking.  I want the highest body fat percent at the start of the competition right? So, how can I get alittle more in there when I go to measure.  We have to go underwater, so maybe inhaling alot of air? hehe  Or what about stuffing my swim suit? Foam! haha  OK, OK, I won't be doing these things.  (wink wink) I probably wouldn't be able to get under the water if I did... keep floating to the top.  But it did cross my mind.
Anyways, I am so stoked about this.  I mean I am always on the weight loss battle as it is.  Endlessly dieting and working out a few times a week.  The hard part will be cutting back on calories... oh chocolate, how I will miss you.  But I am going to do this thing!  Throw an IPad2 and a competition in the mix and this contest is in the bag. Because I am the most competitive person I know!

And how hard can it be right? I mean I am ALWAYS watching Biggest Loser and telling myself "I could totally do that."

So wish me luck and I will keep you all updated on my progress.  Let the games begin!

Walgreen's Extreme Couponing 1/8/2012

Today I did some extreme couponing at Walgreen's!  I bought all of these products and only paid $21.09 out of pocket.  I am so excited about all my deals I decided to blog about it and show you all (if there is actually anyone out there listening!) how I did it.  I will take you step by step and each transaction.  Yes I said each transaction because I had to make 5 different ones.  Let's begin!

First transaction: Tylenol precise cream.  This product was on sale for $5.99.  I had a 2 dollar off coupon for it so I paid $4.27 with tax.  I also received a 2 dollar off register reward on my next Walgreen's purchase.

Transaction 2: Two tubes of Colgate (I paid $2.51 for one tube and went ahead and paid a little more $3.49 for the gum defense) and 1 bar of Syntha-6 which was on sale for $1.89.  I had a 75 cent off coupon for the toothpaste.  Now I could have done a little better with the toothpaste coupons but when I got to the store I realized a couple of my Colgate toothpaste coupons had expired.  I also used my RR(register reward) for a total of $3.75 off this purchase.  The best part about this transaction was the register reward coupons.  I received a 4 dollar off coupon for the toothpaste and a 2 dollar off coupon for the Syntha bar.  Remember I only paid 1.89 for the bar so purchasing it actually gave me an 11 cents overage.  Woot!

Transaction 3:  Kids Omega Smart supplements and 2 Crunch bars.  I had a coupon for the crunch bars at 39 cents each and the supplements were $10.  I used the 4 dollar and 2 dollars RR coupons from transaction 2 so I only paid $5.06 out of pocket for this purchase.  BUT I received a 10 dollar register reward coupon for the Omega Smart supplements, getting them for free!

Transaction 4: Two big bottles of Suave Shampoo and Conditioner for $3.49 each, 2 big bottles of Suave Shampoo for kids for $3.49 each and a stick of Tom's deodorant on sale for $3.99 (regularly $5.99).  I had 2 coupons for $1 off 2 Suave shampoo products and used the $10 off RR coupon from transaction 3.

For a total saving of $12 on this purchasing only paying $6.36 out of pocket.  But of course giving me a $3 RR coupons for the Suave products and a $3 RR coupon for the Tom's only paying 99 cents for the Tom's deodorant!

Transaction 5:  The last transaction! Walgreen's had a sale on the Chex mix 4 for $6.  I also had 2, 50 cent off coupons for the Chex and a Walgreen's coupon for the Chex of a dollar off.  The Blistex was buy one get one free and I had a dollar off coupon on those as well.  And the Crunch bars were added in at 39 cents each for a filler item.  Now let me explain what a filler item is.  You see you can not have more coupons than you do products.  So, if I am using 4 coupons in a single transaction then I need at least 4 products so I would add a really cheap product as a filler item.

So with coupons and register reward coupons in transaction 4.  I only paid 37 cents out of pocket for this transaction!  That's right 37 friggin' cents for all of this!!! And that is not all....

I also received a 2 dollar off register reward coupon for the Chex mix purchase.  So I actually made $1.63 overage on this transaction!  All in all, I think my morning at Walgreen's was a success.  I could have done a little better with better Colgate coupons but live and learn. I hope this helps some with their coupon adventures! I will try to post more of my deals in the future.  Couponing Rocks!
