Famous Fat Flush Diet


So, I recently posted a recipe called "The Fat Flush Soup" (you can find it here) and it had gotten SO much interest that I thought I would post up the entire diet plan.  This diet was first introduced in Women's World Magazine last year.  The diet was inspire by a Penn State study that saw individuals consumed 448 fewer calories per day when eating a satisfying soup.

Having made and tried the soup myself I can see the appeal.  One serving of the soup is 3 cups and that serving is VERY filling.  Some women that have tried the diet have reported some amazing results.  A Women's World Magazine reader had reported an 11 pound weight loss in only a week!  And some other have seen 6,7 and 10 pounds within a week as well!  So here is the diet:

Breakfast: (Choose one of the following)
-2 eggs plus 1/2 cup of veggies
-Fat Flush Smoothie (1 scoop Fat Flush Body Protein, 8oz water, 1cup berries, 1 Tbs. flax seed oil, 2 Tbs. ground flax seeds or chia and ice (optional))
-Greek Yogurt (1 1/2 cup) and berries (1 1/2 cup)

Lunch: 
Fat Flush Soup

Dinner:
Fat Flush Soup

Snacks: (Choose two daily)
-Unlimited veggies and salsa
-Garden salad with 1 tsp. olive oil and fresh lemon or vinegar to taste
-1 hard-boiled egg
-1 piece of fruit

Famous Fat Flush Soup



So, I ran into this recipe recently while scouring the internet for low calorie dishes.  This recipe first appeared in Woman's World magazine last year and some of the reviews I have read on it SWEARS by the soup.  One lady claiming she was stuck at a certain weight for weeks, started eating this soup and dropped 1.4 pounds over night.  Well, I have been eating it for a couple of days and have not gotten such results but I can tell you one thing.  This soup is delicious!!!  And by looking at the ingredients, really healthy for you as well.  I did tweak a couple of things from the original recipe because of personal preferences, such as it calls for mushrooms and I despise mushrooms!  So, here is the recipe:

Ingredients
2 tsp.Olive Oil
1 1/4 lbs. of lean ground turkey (or chicken)
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 bell pepper (seeded and chopped)
4 cloves of garlic (chopped)
1 jalapeno (chopped)
1 (14oz) can of crushes tomatoes
1 (32oz) bottle of reduced sodium spicy tomato juice
1 Tbs. fresh lemon juice
1 (14 oz) can rinsed and drained black beans (navy or pinto can also be used)
1 Tbs. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper (or to taste)
1/2 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)

Directions
1.  Heat olive oil and brown ground turkey/poultry.  Drain and set aside.
2.  Saute onion, garlic and peppers until soft (about 5 minutes).
3.  Stir in all remaining ingredients (except cilantro) and cover and simmer for 20 minutes.  
4.  Stir in cilantro and cover and simmer for 10 minutes longer.  

Makes 12-14 cups.
1 serving = 3 cups.

Greek Yogurt Cheesecake


A great alternative to the fattening cheesecake we all love!  This dish is so delicious, so creamy and so EASY to make.  It tastes just like cheesecake and only 70 calories per serving.

Ingredients

12 oz Plain Greek Yogurt
1 package of sugar free/fat free Cheesecake pudding mix
1 cup fat free milk
3 Tbs Butter (I Can Not Believe It's Not Butter)
5 Graham Crackers
12 Cupcake Liners
Fruit for top of each cheesecake (optional)

Directions

Finely crush graham crackers and mix with melted butter.  In a cupcake pan add the liners and the graham cracker mixture evenly to each.  Mix together yogurt, pudding mix and milk and cover the top of each graham cracker mixture. Refrigerate 30-45 minutes.  Makes 12 servings.

How easy does this sound?  You can play around with the recipe by using chocolate graham crackers instead and even adding fruit or sugar free chocolate syrup for toppings.  YUM!

Extreme Couponing at Walgreens! 2/26/12


This is my haul today from Walgreen's.  The total out of pocket that I paid was $17.64 for all of it!  I will take you through each transaction as I have done before.  Super excited about my savings!


Transaction #1: Melatonin Tr for $4.00.Why did I by this?  Well, first my hubby was pretty excited about this purchase because of the crazy hours he works and it is suppose to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.  But the most important reason I purchased this was because it was free!  I did pay $4.28 out of pocket but I received a 4 dollar Register Reward (RR) that I can use on my next purchase.


Transaction #2: Ultimate Flora Probiotic.  If you notice on my receipt, they first tried to charge me $24.99 for this product but I showed them the ad and it was only $10.  This is why I always carry the ads with me while shopping AND why I watched the register like a hawk.  This is for any purchase, even when I have a basket full of things at the grocery store.  Anyways, I used my $4 RR and only had to pay $6.42 out of pocket.  But the cool thing about this purchase as well?  I got a $10 RR to use on my next purchase!


Transaction #3: BluScience Anti-Aging.  What the heck? I am getting old AND THIS is where the savings really starts kicking in.  This cost $10 and I used my RR from the last transaction so how much did I pay for this? Not a thing as you can see from my receipt!  AND the BEST part of this transaction?  Yes, I received another RR to use on my next purchase.  A $10 RR that is!


Transaction #4: On the Go vitamin drink mix ($8.00), 3 packs of Trident gum ($1.29 each) and 2 chocolate bunnies on a stick (0.99 each).   I used the in store ad coupon making each pack of gum 69 cents and also using a dollar off coupon for them.  With my $10 RR from last transaction I only paid $1.05 out of pocket for th entire transaction!  PLUS, I received a $8 RR to use on my next purchase!


Transaction #5:  Final transaction! 3 bags of Hersey's and Reese's Easter candy, Secret deodorant and 1 KitKat bar.  I used $2.00 off coupon for the candy and $1.00 off coupons for the Secret.  I also used the $8 RR from the last transaction only paying $3.68 for this entire transaction!

Dangers of Icy Hot

I am now exercising 7 days a week!  I love it, I really do.  But some days I come home with some serious muscle soreness.  The other night my lower back was killing me.  So, my brilliant honey suggest that I use some Icy Hot on it.

Now mind you, I have never actually used Icy Hot before.  So I figured I would give it a shot.  I mean you always hear about athletes and people with muscle aches using it so I thought it would help.  And my sweet husband even volunteered to apply it.



In all fairness, his intentions might have started out good... but whenever a bed and rubbing comes into play, his feeble man brain starts to signal other things.  He started to think it was romantic time.  So, he starts rubbing it all over. Thinking it was some sort of oil or lotion.  Getting it all over my back and then moving to my butt.  I was enjoying it. Until.... the hot part of Icy Hot starts to kick in.

It starts to tingle at first... but then. It starts to BURN!  BURNING!  It felt like my skin was on FIRE!  Like I had a chemical spill on my flesh and my skin was burning off.  And he put this stuff all over!... but the worst part of it was my butt. I started screaming!  And do you know what he had the nerve to say?  "Shhhh, you will wake the kids."  Like I can control my screaming when my flesh is coming off the bone.


So, I do the only thing I can think of.  I run... I run straight to the bathroom to remove this devil endorsed product called Icy Hot.  And while I am sitting in the tub... what is this supportive, sweet husband of mine doing?  Laughing at me.


I have a feeling he did this on purpose.  Well played Tubby.

Plateau's Suck

I have hit a plateau recently and they suck!  Really they do.  One does all this hard work with exercising and eating right and all that junk... then hops on a scale and NOTHING.  Not even a half of a pound.....  it makes one question why they are doing all this work with no progress.  Might as well go have that candy bar I have been craving and a couple of slices of pizza. 

And then... something happens.  Something that makes you realize why you are doing what you are doing in the first place.  It might be something small and silly but it is a sign that you are on the right path.  See, I am one of those sit/kneeler people at church.  Mind you it is not THAT often I attend church but when I do and it's time to kneel, my knees start to hurt and then the pain moves higher to my lower back until I can't take it anymore and have to sit for a bit.  Well, this morning Zach was singing at mass so I went to watch him.  (He was really cute by the way... when the music started he would start to hum even before the words started.  And at times he would forget the mic was in front of him and ask the music teacher a question and the entire church heard him.  Anyways... back to my story.  I just had to share the cuteness of my kiddo)  So, when the dreaded time came to kneel (for what usually seems about 2 hours).  And...  It wasn't so bad.  In fact! I had no pain at all!  My knees felt great and no lower back pain.  The entire mass I was pain free... and you know how long those Catholic masses can go.  So, I guess it just made me realize the progress I am having might not always show on the scale.  In only a short month my body is much healthier and in much better shape.  And when you come down to it, that is what REALLY matters now isn't it?

Keeping on Track

I try to keep this in mind when I want that piece of pizza or chocolate.  Or when I just don't feel like going to the gym.  I want to win that IPad2, yes.  But what I want more is to accomplish what I never thought I could.  To actually reach my goal weight in a healthy way!

Valentine's Day Box

So, Bella has to bring a decorated box tomorrow for her Valentine's Day party.  That means, Mom makes box while child plays video games.  And when the box is complete she asks "Can I play with it?"  Anyways, I saw this really cute idea online. It's the S.S. Valentine!


I am certainly NOT crafty but I try sometimes. This was so easy to do I thought I would give it a try and I think it didn't turn out too bad.
