Pledge To Better Health: Meet Angela from Honey I Shrunk The Mom

Last May I sent out a call, a call to my readers to make a pledge to take control of their health and I received an overwhelming response!  There were goals of weight loss, goals of running 5K/half marathons and even goals of "giving up soda".  Six months later, I contacted those that took this pledge and was inspired and motivated at all the accomplishments that were made. 

There was one particular person that really stood out to me.. 

Meet Angela from Honey I Shrunk The Mom!  Since December 2010, Angela has been on a weight loss journey to lose over 100 pounds.  She is currently down over 50 pounds and doing it the right way!

Cookies Kids is a NYC department store based in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Jamaica which specialize in fashionable kids clothing and school uniforms.  They also have an online store, an AWESOME online store in which they offer stylish kids clothing at an affordable price.  My daughter Bella and I recently visited this online store to purchase some Fall clothing for her.  Being a working mom, I do not have much free time outside of work and home duties, this is why the convenience of shopping online is such a life saver!  I love the flexibility that online shopping offers me and my family.

Nutrisystem Week 7: What's For Breakfast?

It is now week 7 on the Nutrisystem program and I am going to begin this week talking about something different.  Let's talk about food, breakfast food to be exact!  They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I believe it.  One of my favorite breakfast meals on the Nutrisystem program are the biscuits and gravy.  This dish has a creamy and delicious gravy on top of a fluffy biscuit.  I always figured I had to stay away from such dishes when trying to lose weight because it was too fattening.  Well, guess what?!  You can eat it on the Nutrisystem program and lose weight while doing so!

Nutrisystem Week 6: Setting Goals and Rewards

I have now been on the Nutrisystem program for 6 weeks and guess what?!  I have lost a total of 10 pounds!  I am in the double digits and have officially lost all the weight I gained over the summer.  WooHoo!  And to celebrate a 10 pound loss on the program, Nutrisystem rewarding me with a Nutribear!  I am super excited about my bear.  When one has a bigger amount of weight to lose, it really does help to set little goals and reward oneself when you reach each one.

I have wanted a Wok for a long, long time now!  I have wanted one ever since I was first introduced to Iron Chef over 10 years ago. I was not always a huge fan of Asian food, my husband use to have to drag me to Asian restaurants but one day something clicked and I was craving it!  They say your taste buds change every 10 years, well mine certainly have because I LOVE me some Asian food now!

In honor of Disney re-releasing Cinderella on Blu-Ray/DVD, Walmart had a Retailtainment Event on October 6th.  We were so excited to attend, after preparing a couple of weeks before, and even invited Bella's best friend Jillian to accompany us.  We found the event table located in the Toy section in Walmart but it was empty. We worried either the event ended earlier or they were on a lunch break.  After waiting around for awhile, the girl started to get antsy but luckily I had the perfect idea!  Why not use The Royal Ball Augmented Reality 2.0 App in store!  I already had the App downloaded but just in case someone did not, Walmart was ready with a HUGE sticker on the floor which one could scan to download the App on their smart phone!

Weighing in Wednesday: Nutrisystem Week 5 A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words w/ Linky

It is now week 5 on the Nutrisystem program.  The last couple weeks have been tough, I was a bit down because of the scale.  Many of you might be well aware, the scale and I have been enemies for quite some time now!

You see the last two weeks the scale has stood still for me, I was starting to become a little bummed.  I knew my body was changing, my clothes were becoming baggy and I was losing weight even though the scale was not reflecting that.  So, I decided to take a picture of myself and compare it to my "before" photo.

Sunday Comics: "The Voice" and Sibling Love

Have you heard of The Voice on NBC?  If not, let me tell you a little about it.  It is a voice competition show that features four famous vocal "coaches", Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, C Lo Green and Blake Shelton, that form teams and compete against each other.  The competition has three parts, the first part is the blind auditions where all the coaches pick singers solely on the sound of their voices.  The coaches have rotating chairs which blind them to the stage, if they like what they hear they can press their button, choosing the contestant.

Nutrisystem Week 4: Plateau's Happen

Let me tell you a little about my week on Nutrisystem.  After last week's 0.5 pound gain, I was determined to lose it plus some!  I was on a mission and I went into this week full force.  I bumped up my exercise, I started walking at lunch breaks and walking flights of stairs for ~15 to 20 minutes.  I would huff and puff up that stair well just knowing the weight is falling off.  And the next day when my calves were so sore I could barely walk, I knew this week was going to show a lower number on that scale.  I totally stuck to my eating program and even ate under my daily calories occasionally.  The scale won't have nothing on me this week, I am going to see "Biggest Loser" weight loss numbers!  Maybe even double digits!  I could not wait to see what it read.
