I'm Dreaming of a #MomCave Inspired by La-Z-Boy Furniture #CBias

~This is my Mom Cave~
We have been living in our home for 6 years now.  I love our home, I really do but when we decided to purchase our home it was more for the "layout."  In my opinion, it needed a lot of cosmetic work.  Of course I was promised that work but for some reason or another it was always put on hold.  One of my husband's reasoning's for holding off on the cosmetic work?  "As soon as we paint the walls, the kids are going to draw all over it."  Yup, he said that.  First of all, my kids have never drawn on walls in their lives, ever.  So come on now, I think he could have thought up of a better excuse than that!  And even if they were at an age where it could be a possibility, they are older now and should know better.  So lame excuses will not work anymore honey, it is time to get to work!

Over Christmas break we decided to tackle a home improvement project, The "Mom Cave."  This particular room is actually an add-on to the back of our home, it is such a cozy room and where I choose to "veg" out.  The only problem is, it is ugly!  Half the room is paneled and the other half is wall papered.  Ugh, wall paper.  Really and truly, when I have guests over, the first thing I usually say when they walk into my Mom Cave is, "Please ignore the ugly wall paper."  It is embarrassing!  I actually talked my husband into not only painting the walls but also the paneling, total score!  We went with a creamish color on the paneling and a dark red color on the walls.  I think it turned out lovely and it looks like a room right out of one of those designing shows on HGTV!

~Time to Furnish the Mom Cave~

Last weekend, I headed to La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries with family in tow.  One thing I truly appreciate about La-Z-Boy Galleries is the personal attention they provide, I was immediately greeted at the door but also given my "space" to look around.  Now truth be told, I do not have an interior designing bone in my body which is why I welcomed the help and Lori was there to provide it to me!  I was impressed with how knowledgeable Lori was not only about the furniture itself but also about the history of La-Z-Boy.  Did you know that La-Z-Boy is celebrating its 85th year in businessImpressive!  I can see why they have had such long term success, La-Z-Boy is indeed an iconic brand that is associated with style, quality, integrity and most importantly comfort!  Recently, they have even teamed up with the actress Brooke Shields and launched the campaign "Live life comfortable."  Now that is my kind of campaign!  When choosing furniture, of course i want something "stylish" but comfort is my number one priority.

Is it comfortable?  Yes it is!

The first thing we did when checking out the furniture was give it the "comfort" test.  Let me assure you, La-Z-Boy definitely exceeds my expectations in comfort.  I could have fallen asleep in that recliner right then and there!  A feature in their recliners I was totally stoked about was the PowerRecline.  Now I can bet a good portion of you all have had the "can't un-recline" problem.  You know those times when you are all reclined and have to get up, you start pushing your feet down to try to bring it into a seated position but it just won't cooperate You then start to sway back and forth to give yourself more power to push the legrest downFinally, you gain enough momentum to bring that puppy into a seated position.  Problem solved with the PowerRecline!  You can easily adjust the back and legrest to any combination with the touch of a button.  Thank you La-Z-Boy for understanding my plight!

~Quality and Style~

Oh the style, the style, the style!  I must say, I fell in love with just about every piece of furniture I laid my eyes on.  La-Z-Boy certainly does provide furniture with "functionality" and at the same time an expansive product line that suits everyone's taste!  Another awesome feature La-Z-Boy provides is the ability to customize their furniture to fit what you are looking for.  You can select from over 900 covers (leather and fabric) to use with more than 250 frames!  What more can you ask for?!

~My Mom Cave Inspiration~

Isn't this simply gorgeous?  I love it, this sofa would be perfect in my Mom Cave!  The color scheme and style is exactly what I am looking for, the only problem is I am not sure how it would physically "fit" into my room.  Not a problem, the La-Z-Boy website offers a 3D room planner!  You can bring your room to life by adding windows, doors, changing the room color, changing the room shape and customizing the furniture style and fabrics.  In addition to the website, La-Z-Boy also has an online catalog where you can check out all the latest furniture trends!  Still not sure it will look good in your room?  La-Z-Boy offers In-Home design assistance FREE of charge!  Professional designers will come to your home and help assist you with your project!  Did I mention it was FREE?!  What a great option for someone like myself, I need all the help I can get in the design department!

~Pin-spiration~

After returning home from our trip to La-Z-Boy, I was filled with inspiration!  So I did what all the cool kids are doing these days, I went to Pinterest and created my Pinterest Inspiration Board.  I included everything from sofas and recliners to tables, pictures and accessories for my Mom Cave!  I am all set to complete my Mom Cave, now I just need the funds!

What?!  I could WIN La-Z-Boy furniture to furnish my Mom Cave?!  That is right!  La-Z-Boy is providing one winner $5000 to furnish their Mom Cave in this "Pin It to Win It" contest!!  Just click the image below for details!

  6. Love what you did for color in your "mom cave" I have owned 2 sets of living room furniture in my adult married lifetime, 36 yrs. BOTH have been Lazy Boy sets, the first an oversized coach and chair an half, loved it, loved it! We had it for 10 years, I did change the look with covers, over the years. We bought our new reclining leather coach, and chair 7 years ago, still looks like new! My youngest daughter and her husband adopted our "old" set and STILL have it, just as comfortable as when it was bought. The newer set isnt as comfortable for sitting on as it is recliners and you loose the comfort for normal coach sitting, but my point to long winded comment is the products last!! Well built, and yes when it's time to buy, probably once more in my lifetime it will be another Lazyboy set! You won't regret spending the $$, You will save in the long run. Good Luck with the Mom cave :)

  7. I love La-Z-Boy, my father always had one of their recliners and I can remember curling up in it every chance I got. Now I have my own and still curl up in them. I could use some new ones though so thanks for the info on the giveaway.

  15. I love the new look you created in your Mom Cave by adding the great wall colors! I will readily admit that I am in love with the power recliners we have in my home - I don't miss the un-recline dilemma at all:) So nice that you shared about the friendly and helpful, yet no pressure service you received at La-Z-Boy - that is exactly what I want when I shop for furniture! Good luck with your Mom Cave conversion and never feel alone on the remodel front - I'm forever giving my husband that "look", too :)
