I've now completed my 19th week on the Nutrisystem program and this week just felt so "easy." I know that might sound a little weird but week 18 was a bit of a struggle for me. You see the week before I had one of those weeks where I felt hungry all the time and I was constantly craving sweets. But I resisted the cravings and the overeating; I did so well! Despite my efforts, the scale did not budge.
This week was so different, like I said, it just felt too easy and that worried me. If I struggled against all these cravings last week and this week did not even feel like a struggle, what was the scale going to think about that?! Well, I guess it sure liked it because I lost a pound!!! This weight loss journey can be SO baffling sometimes but I am not complaining. I feel like the results are just amazing!!
So let's talk a bit more about the Nutrisystem program! Did you know that on the program, Nutrisystem encourages you to have a daily protein shake? Which is awesome because I. Love. Shakes! The coolest thing about making protein shakes is how versatile you can be with them. One of my favorite shake concoctions is to mix it with a tablespoon of Sugar Free Jello Pudding. It not only adds a different flavor to the shake but also thickens it to give it that "shake consistency. Here is a couple of the combinations I like to use.
Doesn't those flavors look delicious?! Well, they are!! But my favorite protein shake amongst ALL protein shakes is the ButterFinger Protein Shake. It is so simple to make as well:
Ingredients
1 cup ice
1/2 cup water
1 package of chocolate protein powder
1 scoop of peanut butter
And there you have it, a candy bar in a glass. And the best part is it is good for you!!! Having a daily protein shake not only keeps me feeling full throughout the day and helps with my sweet tooth cravings but it also gives me that boost of energy I need to get through the day!
Do you have any awesome protein shake recipes to share?

My oldest son keeps asking about protein shakes, he is into weightlifting and his coach says it is good. I will check these out as I know nothing. Mixing with pudding is interesting, I might try these as well.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a great idea!!! I need to make this!! Pinning!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any shake ideas to have, but I'm getting more and more curious about Nutrisystem the more I read about it! I'd love to hear more ideas on shakes because I can't go with the sugar free jello route (unless they no long contain aspartame...I might need to look at that!). The butterfinger shake sounds delicious and I might have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteYou can use the regular pudding powder, it has a bit more calories but you are only using about a TBS so it would not be that much more.
DeleteLooks good! I love peanut butter
ReplyDeleteFirst off, congratulations on your weight loss so far! Second, I like the idea that you can add jello to the shakes which gives you a little something different each time and not just having one flavor to drink.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I find each week to be really difficult counting calories and such. I hope one of these days I can beat obesity as well :)
ReplyDeleteI regularly use ice, milk,a spoonful of peanut butter and a small tbsp of nesquik. So could I get by with using water instead of milk? Hmmm....Congrats on a great week!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss! And this shake looks just yummy.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weightloss! This actually looks yummy!! Good luck. :)

I hate it when you feel like you've lost weight only to step on the scale and it doesn't move! glad to hear that you pushed through though!!
ReplyDeleteand a pistachio pudding shake?!?!?! I'm in!!! I'm a little leery of how it will be with peanut butter, but as we always tell our kids....you can't say you don't like something until you try it!
