One of the first things I taught my kids to say were “Please” and “Thank you.” Teaching them good manners is very important to me but in doing this, I also wanted those words to carry beyond their mouths into their actions. Every time I hear those two little words “thank you” pass their lips, I know that I have taught them well and my pride soars. Every time I see them perform an act of kindness to show their thanks, I am overcome with emotions because I know that I not only taught them to say “thank you” but shown them the importance of giving thanks.
What you say will be forgotten but the way you make someone feel never will.
When was the last time you’ve shown your thanks? I like to show my thanks through food, imagine that?! Now I have to admit, with our household’s extremely busy schedules, during the week we sometimes eat on the run. However, every weekend I make it a point to have a home cooked family meal to not only spend quality time with one another but to also show our thanks for eachother. I want them to know how important they are to me, how much I appreciate them and how I look forward to our time together.
