Buffalo Chicken Dip: Super Bowl Recipes

The Super Bowl is this weekend and when I think of the Super Bowl I think eating!  Oh yes, the husband and I were already discussing what was on the menu for Sunday.  However, all of this eating is most likely going to put a snag into my weight loss goals.  But I plan on combating the battle of the bulge while eating like a queen!  To do this, I need to trick these fat cells of mine.  I need to make the foods I love but make them lower calorie!  And that is why I am introducing you to this Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip!

We have been living in our home for 6 years now.  I love our home, I really do but when we decided to purchase our home it was more for the "layout."  In my opinion, it needed a lot of cosmetic work.  Of course I was promised that work but for some reason or another it was always put on hold.  One of my husband's reasoning's for holding off on the cosmetic work?  "As soon as we paint the walls, the kids are going to draw all over it."  Yup, he said that.  First of all, my kids have never drawn on walls in their lives, ever.  So come on now, I think he could have thought up of a better excuse than that!  And even if they were at an age where it could be a possibility, they are older now and should know better.  So lame excuses will not work anymore honey, it is time to get to work!

Nutrisystem Week 20: Weight Loss & Sickness

It is now week 20 (wow 5 months!) on the Nutrisystem program.  Time sure flies when you are eating delicious, low calorie meals!   I have to admit, this week has been rough.  My family and myself have been plagued with sickness after sickness.  Being sick can sure put a dent into your healthy living regime.  For one, when I am not feeling well I want to "heal" myself with food.  They call it comfort food for a reason, right?  Well, there definitely were times this week I comforted myself with some chocolate, a couple of cookies and that night filled with Toasted Raviolis.  Food Happens.  The important part is to pick yourself back up and keep at it!

I am old school.  Well sure I am hip to some things, I am a hipster social media mommy that blogs about her family life and weight loss progress but there are a few exceptions to my "hipness."  Example of one, I do not trust online calendars.  As a full time working mom who runs a family, a blog and a lab; my life is stacked with daily activities!  This requires specific planning and online calendars just do not cut it!  No siree, I know how easily computers can crash and things can accidentally erase but this can not happen when it is set in ink!  So, I depend on my mommy daily planner to get me through this hectic life of mine!

Now being the girly girl I am, I do not want just any old planner, this is something I will carry around with me all 24/7 for the entire year.  I want something cute and I sure found it in this MPix Daily Planner!

Healthy Buffalo Chicken Lasagna Recipe

I am always looking for healthy dinner ideas.  I like to peruse healthy eating forums and see what folks are cooking.  Well, the other day I saw a post on a Healthy Buffalo Chicken Lasagna recipe (adapted from a post at My Fitness Pal by ThinningDownC).  At first I was skeptical because it contained chickpeas in the recipe!  So, I did what any good cook would do.  I whipped it up and served it to my family.  After my 7 year old son ate two servings and my husband ate THREE servings of the lasagna, I decided to try a piece myself.  Oh. My. Goodness!  It was like a piece of heaven with every bite.  I am not even that big of a Buffalo Chicken fan but this was just amazing!  It was too good to not share it with you all today!

Nutrisystem Week 19: Protein Shake Recipes

I've now completed my 19th week on the Nutrisystem program and this week just felt so "easy."  I know that might sound a little weird but week 18 was a bit of a struggle for me.  You see the week before I had one of those weeks where I felt hungry all the time and I was constantly craving sweets.  But I resisted the cravings and the overeating; I did so well!   Despite my efforts, the scale did not budge.

This week was so different, like I said, it just felt too easy and that worried me.  If I struggled against all these cravings last week and this week did not even feel like a struggle, what was the scale going to think about that?!  Well, I guess it sure liked it because I lost a pound!!!  This weight loss journey can be SO baffling sometimes but I am not complaining.  I feel like the results are just amazing!!

Nutrisystem Week 18: Water and Weight Loss

It has now been 18 weeks since I first began the Nutrisystem program.  You would think that after such a long period of time on Nurisystem, I would have this program down pat!  For the most part I do.  Since my meals are provided for me, I only have to plan out my snacks of nuts, meat, yogurt, veggies and fruits!  I am always well stocked with the necessities so that I do not stray from the program.  Routine is my middle name and I go through each day with such ease but there is one thing I struggle with... something I have struggled with on every diet program I have been on.  It's getting in my water!

I can not believe it's been over 4 months since I first started my journey on the Nutrisystem program and I am down another pound this week!!  Looking back, I can't even count the number of weight loss programs I have started and restarted and restarted.  It is one thing to start a program but a whole other ball game to actually stick to one.   Which is why I am extremely thankful for given the chance to start and continue the Nutrisystem program.
