I am definitely a weakling when it comes to ice cream. And chocolate ice cream, Oh forget about it! It sure is my weight loss kryptonite and I have been known to sit down and eat a gallon of it. Don't judge, I am my harshest critic and I always wake up the next morning with extreme guilt. But let me tell you a little secret, I have found the guiltless ice cream!! Allow me to introduce you to Yonanas!
I am one of those people that visit a book store and spend hours in the "Cook Book" section. I am always looking for new and delicious recipes to try out! Most importantly, I love to take those traditional recipes and put a "healthy" spin on them. There really are many tricks and food substitutes one can replace in a recipe to turn a "fattier" dish into a "skinny" one!
It is now week 26 on the Nutrisystem program. Wow, 26 weeks and you might guess I would be totally sick of the Nutrisystem foods after almost 7 months of eating it. If you thought that, then you thought wrong! One thing about Nutrisystem that I love is that it is always changing and improving on its program and food varieties. Recently, Nurtisystem released an entire line of new foods and today I want to introduce you to a few of my favorites!
This weekend Disney On Ice's Rockin' Ever After came to town and gave an awesome performance. I took my little girl and niece (both 4 years old) to the show because what little girl does not love princesses?! In fact, what little girl does not want to be a princess herself?! I know both my girls do and boy were they excited to see this show. The entire week both girls were counting down the days to the big show and even picked out their princess wardrobe!
It is now week 25 on the Nutrisystem program and you all might have been wondering where I have disappeared to this past week. Well folks, I was traveling around the world! Well not the entire world but I did visited Europe, Germany to be exact. It was quite the experience I have to admit, having never been to a "real" foreign country (Mexico and Canada does not count) I did not know what to expect. And I was a bit nervous about deviating from my weight loss program while vacationing but I also wanted to enjoy myself and that included the local cuisines. So, I made a list of a few tips that I tried to stick to while vacationing.
Those certainly aren't my kids trying to sneak such an unhealthy snack. Wait! I think those are my kids tip toeing out of the kitchen with a couple of bags of chips. Nice try kids but you can't fool this mom with your mustache disguises and your stealth moves!
If your kids are anything like mine then they love them some chips but I certainly do no like to feed it to them. I just do not feel right allowing them to ingest food with such a high content of fat and calories. But when they come to me with those puppy dog eyes asking for chips, it is hard to deny them. And of course, they never take me up on the offer of eating some fruits and vegetables instead. However, I have found a solution!
I dream of being one of those overachieving moms who plants gardens, milks their own cows and only serves their kids those fancy schmancy, all organic, healthy meals. But the reality is, I am a full time working mom who spends her days at work and evenings making sure the kids get their homework completed, shuffling them back and forth from sporting events and fitting in a healthy dinner in the midst of the chaos.

A little over a year ago I began my blog, the reason I started blogging was to make myself accountable for my weight. I could not very well eat a box of chocolate donuts and then come here and tell you all how you should be eating. Well, maybe I could because this weight loss blog is about being "real" and in real life we slip up from time to time. The important part is getting back on track and that is what you all do for me, you are my weight loss community! When I slip up, some of you leave that encouraging comment to get back on track. And when I have an awesome week, you give me that pat on the back and tell me how awesome I am doing. Believe me, you don't realize how much support you give me on this journey of mine!
