Ever since I took my kids to see The Guardians of The Galaxy last summer, they have become Super Fans.  No joke.  If you were to ask my 6 year old daughter what she wants to be for Halloween next year, she will tell you “Rocket Raccoon, of course!”  And my son declares The Guardians of The Galaxy to be his favorite movie of all time.  So, when I heard that December 9th would be the release date for The Guardians of The Galaxy DVD/Blu-Ray, I knew we had to make it a “Super Fan Movie Night!”

Now to prepare for the big Super Fan Movie Night featuring The Guardians of The Galaxy, we had to first head to the local Walmart to pick up some essentials.  Boy, was I in luck!  As I entered the store and turned the corner, I noticed a huge center aisle display filled with The Guardians of The Galaxy toys!  You know I had to jump on that!
And The Guardians of The Galaxy fever didn’t stop there.  As I entered the Electronics Department to pick up my copy of the DVD/BluRay, I noticed that Walmart was giving money back for purchasing some Guardians of The Galaxy merchandise.  That’s right, from 12/7 to 12/13 when you buy a Groot, Drax or Rocket Raccoon Disney Infinity 2.0 figure, you will instantly receive a $5 Walmart gift card at check out.  Bonus!
Speaking of bonus, do you know what I totally geek over when I buy the DVD/BluRay of a movie?  The Bonus materials!  The Guardians of The Galaxy DVD features an exclusive character O-sleeve, a music zinepack and a 64 page magazine with the cast and crew interviews.  The bonus material also includes exclusive behind the scenes photos and trivia, PLUS a custom “cassette” laptop decal.  Oh Guardians of The Galaxy, you know how to make this Super Fan Girl happy!

Once I returned home with all the goodies, it was GO time!  I am not sure who was more excited to play with all The Guardians of The Galaxy merchandise I picked up; the kids, myself or my husband.  My son puts dibs on the Star-Lord Battle Mask and Blaster Set.  That was fine with my daughter because she had her eyes on the figurines, especially the Rocket Raccoon and Groot ones!
I almost forgot, have I mentioned the top billboard soundtrack?  Well, not only does The Guardians of The Galaxy have a great movie and some awesome merchandise; it also has the bomb soundtrack!  This might be one of the reasons that this movie is one of our favorites.  My son even wanted to make a little video starring himself as Star Lord.  Enjoy!

Now my daughter was NOT going to be outdone, oh no siree!  So there’s this scene in the movie, Baby Groot is doing a little dance while Drax is in the background cleaning his knife.  She informed me that She. Is. Baby. Groot. and she wanted to film that scene.  So of course, we did!

The build up to Super Fan Movie Night was almost complete, however, every family movie night is in need of snacks.  And we had to have a snack that represented!

We whipped up these delicious and easy to make, Green Gooey Gamora’s.  I used a Gooey Butter Cookie recipe from Six Sister’s Stuff and added green food coloring to give it the Gamora flare!

Toys, check.  Videos, check.  Snacks, check.  Now it was time for the movie!

Once The Guardians of The Galaxy began playing; the snacks, the videos and even the toys were forgotten and they were locked into the movie!  It was definitely an enjoyable day/evening full of “geeking out” over our favorite movie.  As the kids get older, I hope they never lose that youthful spirit.  I hope they realize they are never too old to geek out to their favorite movie and make fun little dance videos.  And I will promise to never stop having Super Fan Movie Nights with them!
