Top 5 Reasons To Visit The Wilderness Resort in The Wisconsin Dells

Disclosure: I was given complimentary stay to facilitate this review.  All opinions are my own.

Let me begin by saying, I have a regret.  Earlier this month, I took the family for a 3 day/ 2 night stay at The Wilderness Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.  It was the first time we’ve visited Wisconsin, much less The Wilderness Resort, and we fell in love with both!  The Dells is only a 6 hour drive from St. Louis and the perfect destination for a family getaway!  Now let’s talk about my regret.  While it was such a blast to visit, I totally regret not staying longer!  Oh yes, we did NOT want to leave and will be visiting again in the near future.  Check out my Top 5 reasons why The Wilderness Resort is a must visit destination.

The Rooms

As soon as we walked into our room, my mouth dropped as the kids squealed with delight.  Not only are the rooms clean, well thought out and roomy but they also scream “The Wilderness.”  Our room was equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, 2 Queen sized beds, a sofa sleeper, breakfast bar and two TV’s.  It was perfect for our family of four and a comfortable retreat from a full day of activities!

Did I mention the view?  It was amazing!  The above picture was taken right off of our balcony and when the kids saw the view; it was water slide time!

The Outdoor Water Parks

When I registered at the front desk, I was given four wristbands for each member of my family.  These wristbands were to be worn at all times for entrance to all the water parks on the property.  When I say all the water parks, I mean ALL the water parks!

The Wilderness Resort is home to 4 outdoor water parks; Lake Wilderness, New Frontier, Lost World and Cubby’s Cove Outdoor.  From pools to thrill slides, from toddler areas to the lazy rivers; the water parks has something for everyone!

Now I have to admit, I have a bit of anxiety when it comes to the kids playing in pools.  So much so, I usually have them loaded up in life jackets even though they can swim on their own.  However, at The Wilderness Resort I felt VERY comfortable with the kids in the pools and on the slides.  There were no shortage of life guards on duty and the life guards were extremely attentive.  This was an anxiety ridden mother’s dream water destination!

The Indoor Water Parks

If you are impressed with all the outdoor water parks, then the indoor water parks will blow your water shoes off!  The Wilderness Resort hosts FOUR indoor water parks; Klondike Kavern, Wild WaterDome, Wild West and Cubby’s Cove.  The indoor parks include much of the same awesomeness as the outdoor parks, with their pools, hot tubs, slides and kiddie areas.  My kids could not get enough of the wave pool and spent hours upon hours surfing the waves!

I noticed the outdoor water parks on the property close a bit early in the evening, the one near our room closed around 6:00 PM.  My husband and I came to the conclusion this was to reduce noise near the rooms in case some guests were early to bed.  However, many of the indoor parks stayed open until 9:00 and/or 10:00 PM for us night owls.  You know what else all these indoors water parks mean?  You can visit all year round!  Total WIN!!

The Arcade

The Wilderness Resort is also home to an Arcade where kids and adults alike can take part in games that would make Chuck E Cheese jealous!  While most arcade arenas are super expensive and you can blow $50 in a matter of minutes; The Wilderness Resort Arcade really gave you a bang for your buck!

The Wilderness Resort even had the Wilderwoods Go-Kart Trail!  The two-story, 525 foot long trail hosts 20 electric cars and thousands of smiles on each riders face!

Food, Snacks & Drinks; Oh My!

Along with the MANY restaurants on the property which include Wild Canyon Cafe, The Thirsty Buffalo Saloon, Survivors Bar & Grill and Canyon Ridge Tap Room to name a few; The Wilderness also has a Pizza delivery service, frozen yogurt shops and alcoholic drinks for the adults.  Don’t feel like carrying around credit cards or cash?  Then just put the bill on your room and pay for it when you check out!

Of course, the room lobby areas even had snacks to purchase along with a Dippin’ Dots machine.  Now this is what I call a full service resort!

I can not speak highly enough of our stay at The Wilderness Resort!  I knew we would have a good time visiting the resort but our stay exceeded my expectations.  We will be back and this time we will visit much, much longer!!
