We went on down to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium and they all asked for you. The monkeys asked, the gorillas asked, and the alligators asked too!
Last month, the family and I had the pleasure to visit Pittsburgh on a special Pittsburgh IS Kidsburgh tour. Our tour began at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and ended at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. Come take a look at our adventures at the zoo and find out why it’s a must see attraction!
I’ve visited many a zoo’s, you can even call my family ‘zoo connoisseurs’. Our hometown of St. Louis is in fact known for it’s zoo, with one bonus being free! After visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo, I have to admit it is one of my favorites. In terms of beauty, I have to vote it one of the most beautiful landscaped zoo’s I’ve ever seen.
As you can tell, the scenery was simply stunning but my favorite part had to be all the activities they had for the kids!
From the fun little stations at each animal exhibit.
Interactive learning tools.
A whole building for kids, which included a life size operation game.
And even an entire kids playground area, with climbing nets and slides, and tunnels!
My kids were in zoo heaven at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
Oh yeah. I’ve been talking all about the zoo part of this trip, I almost forgot to mention the aquarium at the Pittsburgh Zoo! I’ve spent good money to visit aquariums in cities across the nation. However, the Pittsburgh zoo is two bangs for it’s buck with an amazing aquarium inside the zoo!
As my daughter said, “They even have penguins!!!”
The Islands was a fun little area with food, entertainment and sand! The kids stopped to make sand castles and us parents stopped to relax. Because what better place is there to relax than at the beach?
There was so much to do and see at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, I definitely suggest making it one of your must see stops while in Pittsburgh. Or make a special trip there just to check it out because Pittsburgh IS Kidsburgh!

Great post! I live in eastern Ohio, and Pittsburgh is the closest city to me. I am wanting to take my girls to the zoo and the museum. I haven't been to either since I was young.
