Learn The Pirate Lingo
Being a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and having viewed the first 4 movies atleast 10.. maybe 20 times, I do know one thing: Pirates don’t say “Ya’ll”! So in an effort to prep for my upcoming trip, I have been taking a Google Translator crash course in Pirate talk. That’s right, Starting 5/17 I am trading in my “Ya’ll” for “Scallywags”, my “Awesome” for “Yo Ho Ho” and my “Bye Felicia” for “Felicia, you be gettin’ the ole heave ho!” I think I be gettin’ the hang of it, don’t ya’ll scallywags think so? Close enough.
Doing My Pirate Research
To prep for the “Pirate Life’ one must do their pirate research, this includes studying pirates. This includes watching ALL the pirate movies! Take a look at the synopsis for Pirate Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
Experience The Pirates Life
To prep to become a Pirate, one must live the Pirates Life for atleast… 3 minutes. So, while in LA we will be visitng Disneyland to check out the Pirates Of The Caribbean ride firsthand!!
Pirates of the Caribbean is considered by many to be one of the most spectacular attractions ever created for a theme park. Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the adventures continue in Southern California! The attraction was originally conceived as a wax museum and a walk-through exhibit. But following the success of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, Walt Disney and his team of Imagineers decided that Audio-Animatronics—Walt’s latest animation technology—was the most imaginative way to tell a rousing pirate story. On March 18, 1967, Pirates of the Caribbean opened at Disneyland Park. Thanks to the many highly detailed scenes, lavish special effects and memorable characters, the attraction earned rave reviews and has remained a beloved classic, even spawning its own blockbuster film series!
Dress Like A Pirate
To fully embrace the Pirate lifestyle, one must dress the part! While in LA attending the #PiratesLifeEvent, I will be walking the red carpet for the premiere of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales!!! Ya’ll Scallywags know how I love to rock the red carpet, so I’m a ‘Yo Ho Hoing” with excitement!! And of course I am sticking to my pirate theme for the carpet with some Hollywood flair mixed in!
The red carpet look is complete with a sparkley, feathered eye patch! I am SO ready for the #PiratesLifeEvent!
Did Someone Mention Bambi?
Disney’s Bambi is set to release on Digital HD May 23rd and Blu-Ray June 6th:
“Bambi” was released in 1942 during World War II and took over five years to make due to its exquisite hand-drawn artwork and attention to detail. Beloved by generations, “Bambi” holds the No. 3 spot on the American Film Institute’s “10 Top 10,” honoring the 10 greatest animated films of all time. The timeless tale features an adorable young deer named Bambi who explores the wonders and challenges of the woods with his playful pal Thumper, the lovable skunk Flower, and wise Friend Owl – and ultimately fulfills his destiny as prince of the forest.
I will be visiting Walt Disney Animation Studios while in LA where I get to sit down for a Q&A with Donald Dunagan (voice of Bambi), Peter Behn (voice of Thumper), Disney Archivists Becky Cline & Keven Kern as well as Visual Development Artist Paul Felix. AND I get to tour Walt Disney’s office!!!
