I attended the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES Premiere courtesy of Walt Disney Studios. All thoughts/experiences/opinions are my own!
Welcome to the Walt Disney Archives photo tour! I am Amanda, Disney fan extraordinaire, and I’m your friendly and fabulous tour guide. What makes me such a Disney Archive expert other then my fabulous-ness? Well, I am not. However, a few weeks ago I was able to tour the Archives building and hear all the details from a “real’ Disney Archive expert. I am here today to share those details/photos with all my FABULOUS readers, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
As I walked into the Disney Archive room, my eyes became as wide as saucers and I was a bit overwhelmed with all the Disney memorabilia. Seriously, there were cases filled with fantastic Disney memories.
Not only were the classic Disney collectables filling the shelves but also memorabilia from films past.
The room was filled with the spirit of Walt, there was even a wall imagine of him smiling and welcoming everyone in.
“When you wish upon a star….“
The magic of Disney is no stranger to anyone. It’s about dreaming, and believing, and achieving. Walt Disney dreamed, he dreamed of a magical place one can come to and be a kid at heart again. He believed in this dream and set out to achieve it.
And when Walt Disney set out to achieve something, it was big news!!
And thus, Disneyland was born. Check out the first map of Disneyland which included a walk through wax museum where visitors could walk through and be up close to villians and PIRATES. Thus this vision becoming what is now the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and later the huge film franchise that is Pirates of the Caribbean!
The first Disneyland ticket ever sold was for $1! Whaaaat!! It was actually Walt’s brother Roy who bought the first ticket.
Of course, achieving such huge dreams takes the work of many and Walt knew it takes a village to create an empire! He worked closely with those who helped him along the way, including the animators. In fact, he helped create a desk in the 1940’s tailored to the needs of the animators (shown above).
This teamwork, this passion, this vision and Walts creations did not go un-noticed. He was awarded with the smiles of children/adults for years to come. And yes, he received many awards along the way. Above I am holding one of Disneys Academy Awards!! What does it feel like to win an Academy Award? Heavy!!
Now that you’ve toured the Walt Disney Archive’s, it’s time to go to Disneyland!!!

We were a week away from the opening of Summer of Heroes at Disneyland but we had other rides on the agenda for that day! Such as the big Pirates Of The Caribbean ride!!
We have all heard stories of Johnny Depp making appearances as Jack Sparrow at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney World. So, I definitely had my eye out to spot that Jack Sparrow at Disneyland! I just couldn’t find him anywhere, although people did keep saying I had a Jack on my head. Weird.
It wasn’t until that sneaky pirate tried to nab my funnel cake! I love you and all Jack but mess with my snacks and I may have to cut you. He knew better though and gracefully stepped aside.
Jack was even sweet enough to accompany me on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and protect me from all those dirty Scallywags that tried to cut in line.
And let me tell you, there was protection needed on the ride as well, with all that gold to be had!
A Pirate’s Life for You
Gallivant inside a grand southern manor and board a small barge within a stone-wall fortress for a spellbinding adventure. Through a shadowy grotto, escape past the Blue Bayou restaurant before sliding down a small waterfall into the ghostly graveyard of fallen rapscallions—your gateway to the Golden Age of Piracy.
Behold boisterous buccaneers drunk on the spoils of plunderin’ during your approximate 15-minute cruise amid the New World. Sing along as windswept pirates serenade you with their classic anthem, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).” And even spy a sly Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series along the way, as he secretly attempts to get his hands on the town’s treasures.
It was a wonderful day to be had. Thank you for escorting me through the day Mini Jack Sparrow, you are a true gentleman! Now go see him in the latest Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales!
