Goodbye Christopher Robin opens in select theaters on October 13th! Today in honor of the movie, I brought my replica Edward bear to work with me for National bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day! I work from home and sometimes even from the comfort of my bed, so bringing my teddy bear to work is somewhat of a daily occurance. However, those out in the “real world”, I challenge you to do the same and represent this special day by bringing your teddy with you!
In 1921, Daphne Milne bought a teddy bear from Harrods for the first birthday of her son, Christopher Robin. The classic bear, produced at the Farnell factory in West London, was named Edward and became young Christopher Robin’s constant companion. Following a trip to the London Zoo, Christopher Robin decided to rename his bear after the zoo’s own resident black bear, Winnipeg, or Winnie for short!
I was given a replica of this bear thanks to Fox Searchlight! The bear is a detailed replica of the original Edward bear, handmade by Merrythought. The bear Christopher Robin fell in love with and who inspired the stories that have delighted generations for more than 90 years!
