This weekend I am flying out to Los Angeles to attend the red carpet premiere of Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time! While there, I will interview some of the talent including Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and Oprah! OpraH! OPRAH!
Yesterday I watched Oprah, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling discuss female empowerment on Oprah’s Facebook Live stream. Reese quipped during the conversation, “Ladies, lets start acknowledging how great we are!” Preach Reese, preach! I for one have never had a problem discussing said topics. If were to be honest, many of my successes in life were based off of wanting to prove women are strong, successful and could achieve whatever we put our minds to. I hold a Master degree in Chemistry and while I do have a huge interest in Science, I also pursued the field because of the lack of female Scientists. I’ve always has this desire to prove our equality in a male dominated world. We will not be held back because of our gender and while it seems these past few years have been the “Year of the Woman”, I’ve lived a lifetime with that same goal of “Female Empower!”.
This drive for female equality and empowerment was learned at a very young age and I credit strong female role models who’ve inspired me over the years. One role model that tops the list, next to my own Mother of course, is Oprah. I’m pretty sure the name “Oprah” itself means “alpha female”, maybe not but it should! I’ve followed and respected Oprah way before she was giving away cars on her talk show. I was a proud member of her book club, watched all of her movies and when social media started placing her hat in the rink for President in 2020, I was screaming “YES!” So when I found out I’ll be in the same room interviewing Oprah for her role in A Wrinkle in Time, I started going over scenerios of how to win her over as my new Best Friend Forever! Operation: BFF Oprah.

Oprah (“Mrs. Which”) is not the only interview I, along with my fellow bloggers, will be conducting for the film. We’ll also chat with Reese Witherspoon (“Mrs. Whatsit”) & Mindy Kaling (“Mrs. Who”), Storm Reid (“Meg Murry”), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“Dr. Kate Murry”), Rowan Blanchard (“Veronica”), Levi Miller (“Calvin”), Deric McCabe (“Charles Wallace Murry”), Director Ava DuVernay and Screenwriter Jennifer Lee! Talk about a powerful line-up and if any of the above want to get in on this BFF action, I am down to be associated with this talented bunch.
Oh yeah, and do we have any Scandal fans out there? We will also interview Bellamy Young who plays Camazotz Mom in A Wrinkle In Time and Mellie Grant in Scandal!

Last but not least, we will screen the first episode of the ABC drama Deception, premiering March 11 at 10|9c. The screening is followed by a Q&A with Creator and Executive Producer Chris Fedak & Co-Producer David Kwong.

The series is from writer/executive producer Chris Fedak (“Chuck”) and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Martin Gero and Sarah Schechter. Illusionist David Kwong (“Now You See Me”) will co-produce.
I almost forgot to mention, not only will we be screening A Wrinkle in Time and interviewing the talent of the film, we will also walk the red carpet of the Hollywood movie premiere!! Ya’ll know red carpets are my jam and I can’t wait to dazzle my new BFF Oprah when I am there. From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.
A Wrinkle in Time opens nationwide on March 9, 2018.
