A Wrinkle In Time Red Carpet & After Party Details #WrinkleInTimeEvent

I attended the #WrinkleInTimeEvent on behalf of Disney and ABC in Los Angeles 2/24-2/27.  This post is part of the required content series, all opinions and experiences are my own.

A Wrinkle In Time Red Carpet & After Party Details #WrinkleInTimeEvent

Last Monday I walked the red (blue) carpet for the Los Angeles movie premiere of A Wrinkle In Time and attended the after party with the stars! Check out my experience.

Today a Facebook memory popped up from three years ago, it was a memory of my very first red carpet experience.  I remember my first red carpet like it was yesterday; the hours and hours I spent searching for the perfect dress, the butterflies before I stepped on the carpet and the uneasiness of being on a red carpet with stars.  Much has changed from that inexperienced girl of three years ago but one thing has not, the glamour of it all.  No matter if you are a movie star, a publicist or a girl who started a blog many years ago as a hobby; somehow that carpet speaks to you and what is says is “You have made it!”

As I attend A Wrinkle in Time premiere I step on the carpet no longer with butterflies but with celebration.  I mingle not only with Hollywood stars I admire but with individuals who are living their dream, and I am one of them.  And I stop for a moment as I always do, take it all in and remind myself to always be thankful.  Hard work and diligence will aid in achieving our dreams but it is also takes a village.  And it is this village I am thankful for: those who follow my site and the crazy journey’s, those who have given me a chance to do the amazing experiences I have been given and those successful bloggers around me who inspire and lift one another up.  This celebration is for you.

The carpet was hopping with stars and I did get a few selfies with them!  I couldn’t resist stopping the cutie pie Deric McCabe for a photo, he plays Charles Wallace Murray in the movie and is such a doll!  Just wait until you read our interview with him (on the blog Tuesday).

Glynn Turman was there being as nice as he can and taking photos with all who asks.  You may remember him because he was married to Aretha Franklin but I remember him as Colonel Brad Taylor from A Different World, I LOVED that show!

Marcus Scribner from Black-ish was in attendance and I had to give a little shout out to him since I have interviewed him on a few occasions.  He was not the only Black-ish, in fact I spotted Tracee Ellis Ross when I was looking for my seat AND I sat right by Anthony Anderson in the theater.  You didn’t hear this from me but he sat in the nose bleed section and could literally touch the roof of the theater.  He also made a point of letting everyone know he could.  He is a riot!

After the movie premiere, we headed to the after party to mingle with the stars.  Right away I spot Actress/Singer Janelle Monae, she was in films such as Moonlight and Hidden Figures and not only stunning but a complete delight.

True after party story: I was hanging out at Oprah’s table and look over my shoulder to see Martin Lawrence.  I immediately began singing “Martinnnnn, Martinnnn!” and he just smiles at me, I am sure he gets that ALL the time.  He graciously took a picture with me but seriously, the song just popped out!  Anyways, thanks Martin for being so nice about it.  I’m telling ya’ll, if I had to pick one word to describe the night it would be “gracious”.  Everyone was so laid back and happy to just be there and celebrate this night together.  Even the LEGENDS!

Oh yeah.  I almost skipped over the hanging out a Oprah’s table part, didn’t I?  I DID hang out at Oprah’s table! I did, I did, I DID!  Like seriously I set my drink down and stood not even two feet away from her as she GRACIOUSLY spoke with and took pictures with those around her.  I was amazed.  While I knew Oprah was a genuine woman from interviewing her the day before, sometimes you get to an after party and the stars like to keep their distance.  Nope, not Oprah, not tonight.

In fact, at one point the crowd was growing and gathering around Oprah, her security guard began to push folks back and I saw her lean over and whisper into his ear to allow everyone who wants to talk and/or get a picture with her, do so.  Gracious, I tell ya.

Now you may wonder why I didn’t get my famed selfie with Oprah?  While I did get a picture OF her, while totally hanging out at her table, I did not get a selfie with her.  There was a huge line and since graciousness seemed to be the theme of the night, I figured I had a chance to interview her the day before and others did not, so I figured I’d sit back and let others have their time with her.  And I didn’t want to lose my spot at her table, just sayin’.

While you have to wait for the movie review for more details on the film, I will say that it is a MUST-SEE!!  All the stars will agree, I asked them myself…

I loved reading about how gracious everyone was. What an experience it would be, to be in the presence of so many celebrities. :)
