Captain Marvel hits theaters tomorrow March 8th! Last year I visited the Captain Marvel movie set, check it out!
Two nights ago I attended a prescreening for the long awaited Captain Marvel movie. As I was sitting in the theater enjoying the film, I couldn’t help but reminisce about the time I was actually ON the set of Captain Marvel. It was a little short of a year ago when I was in Los Angeles for the red carpet premiere of Avengers: Infinity War and we were surprised with the news of visiting the set. Come relive the experience with me!
We first were escorted near the trailers where we spotted weapons, Kree and Skrull weapons that is! You have to realize, at the time we had not seen one Captain Marvel trailer, so the fact we knew the Skrulls and Krees were in the movie was totally exciting! Of course, we checked them out and did some tough super hero poses with them. At this time, we also took a peek inside the wardrobe trailer. Hanging from the walls were sections labeled for each character: Nick Fury, Captain Marvel “Carol Danvers”, etc. I spotted Stan Lee’s wardrobe and made sure to touch his suits, sneakers and anything else I could find!
We really didn’t know what shaceship we were in at the time, or even what device we were taking pictures with, but now having seen the movie you may recognize the “MindFracker”. We all thought it was some sort of torture device, hence the painful look on my face.
But no worries, I also made sure to take a cute photo in the “Mind Fracker” as well. It was crazy how the set was being built AS they film. Even while we were there, they had pieces of the ship falling off the ceiling and hitting workers in the head! Movie set life can be dangerous, ya’ll!
Last but not least, we we able to watch Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and Goose The Cat film a scene for the movie!
Fun Fact: Brie Larson is highly allergic to animals and had to be sprayed off after every scene she had with Goose. This led to my favorite story of the visit.
Picture it. Brie Larson walks over and apologizes for not coming over to chat with us after filming stopped because she had to be sprayed down for her animal allergies. Brie says, “This is why I do not own any pets.” Samuel L. Jackson comments, “I don’t own any pets either but it is because I’m too busy and never home.” I proceed to say to Samuel, “Not even a snake?!?!” Samuel does not acknowledge my witty comment and to make sure he heard me I repeat it louder, “NOT EVEN A SNAKE?!?!” At this time, Samuel gives me the side eye, THE SIDE EYE YA’LL!! I was side eyed by Samuel L. Jackson and I loved every minute of it! Who else can say they were side eyed by Samuel L. Jackson on the M F-in’ movie set of Captain Marvel? ME , that’s who!
The most amazing part of being on set of Captain Marvel was seeing the set where I had visited, seeing the scene I watched being filmed and feeling that special connection to the film. There is nothing like it!
