‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Movie Redesign
Last April the first trailer for Sonic The Hedgehog movie dropped and the internet erupted with displeasure over the look of Sonic, who was almost unrecognizable as the video character we have all come to know. The negative and almost brutal response from fans sent filmmakers back to the drawing board, delaying the film with a new release date of Feburary 14th 2020. Last November a new trailer dropped which featured a Sonic The Hedgehog movie redesign and fans seemed far more optimistic. The movie redesign was certainly the “elephant in the room” during the Sonic The Hedgehog press junket last week, and to think, it was Jim Carrey himself who brought it up during the interview.
Director Jeff Fowler Discusses The ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Movie Redesign
‘Message received.‘ was Director Jeff Fowlers response to fans on the look Sonic was given in the first Sonic The Hedgehog trailer. He goes on to say, “You’ve got to respect the fans, they are the reason we had an opportunity to make this movie. They have loved Sonic for almost 30 years and you’ve got to listen to that.” Overall, it’s safe to say that the Sonic redesign was a success and fans seem much more pleased with the results.
And pleasing the fans was a priority for Fowlers who stated, “We are so excited about the story we have to tell, we had so much fun making the movie, we just really wanted the audience and the core fans to be on board in a big way. If that meant going back to the drawing board for Sonic, then we were happy to do it.” It seems Fowlers is happy with the results as well proclaiming, “We can not be more excited where it landed.” See for yourself on February 14th when Sonic The Hedgehog movie lands in theaters across the nation!
