Scoob Movie Review – Scoody Doo 2 Review

Scoob Movie Review

SCOOB movie was a Scooby Dooby Delight! It had all the nostalgia to appeal to its fans with an added bonus of heart and humor.

As a huge fan of the original Scooby Doo series, when I heard we were getting the new animated film SCOOB, I was ecstatic.  Scooby and his gang of friends, Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne have been a part of many fans lives for decades now.  From the trailers leading up to the film, it looked like it would be based around the back story of Scoob but I was pleasantly surprised it was so much more.  Check out my Scoob Movie Review and if you prefer to check out my video review, see below!

Scoob Movie Review

SCOOB starts out much like we saw in the trailers, with a young Scoob and Shaggy bonding over something near and dear to their hearts, food.  Their back story really was touching, as we see a lonely Shaggy meeting Scoob and forming an instant friendship.  We even learn how the duo meets Fred, Daphne and Velma; solving their first mystery together and forming the “gang”.  I have to admit, I really enjoyed seeing my favorite characters as kids and would totally watch a film based entirely on them as kids!

Scoob quickly skips ahead, and we see the gang once again continuing their mystery solving ways when to my surprise, an animated Simon Cowell makes and appearance and gives them their Mystery Inc name.  I had only watched the trailers leading up to the film, so I was not only pleasantly surprised to see Simon but also some other fan favorite characters we all know and love.

Hanna Barbera Cinematic Universe In Scoob!

All Hanna Barbera fans will rejoice as they watch Scoob! bring back some of the best characters in the cinematic universe which include Blue Falcon (Well, his son Brian anyways), Dynomutt, Dick Dastardly, Captain Caveman and even a glimpse of Muttley and his giggling ways.  The nostaliga is strong in Scoob movie and these characters appearance definitely bring back those fond memories of the Saturday morning cartoons we grew up on.

Overall Thoughts

Scoob movie was a pure delight.  While it has it scary moments, which may not be suitable for the really young kids, I believe it is an enjoyable family film to add to your “must-see” list.  It’s definitely a film which appeases the hardcore “Scooby Doo” fan base but also gives enough back story and entertainment value to recruit a whole new generation.  While my kids have never heard of Mystery Inc. or “Zoinks” for that matter, they are now on board the Scooby train and I am delighted!
