This past weekend I attended the virtual press junket for the film where the talent discussed everything from the number of lollipops Alyson Hannigan’s character went through while filming the movie, to Ben Schwartz and Danny Pudi having a little Ducktales reunion. Ducktales Reunion & Easter Eggs

It was noted during the press junket that Flora And Ulysses was like a mini Ducktales reunion with Danny, Ben, Bobby and kate all in the movie. Because of this Director Lena Khan decided to just “go with it” and gave us all sorts of Ducktales Easter Eggs in Flora And Ulysses. At the very opening shot, Bobby is shown reading a Ducktales comic and audiences can even see little ducks in the background with different colors of their collar which match the characters in Danny’s office. Along with these fun Ducktales Easter Eggs, Lena noted there is other Easter Eggs from Disney to even Buffy The Vampire Slayer, in honor of Alyson Hannigan of course.

Other Easter Eggs include a whole world just for the comic book nerds. Others noted were Mysterio in the background with goldfish-looking helmet, a Ventriloquist dummy which is a mobster dummy next to the TV, Buffy The Vampire Slayer references and Buffy items hidden in the background, and you will even see other book written by Kate DiCamillo hanging around in some shots.

Other Flora And Ulysses Fun Facts

  • Alyson Hannigan ate 37 lollipops while filming.
  • Danny Pudi showed up to set with a twirly mustache to play the villain but Lane made him shave it off.
  • Matilda Lawler used a “grey, creepy, rat thing” in place of a squirrel.
  • Flora And Ulysses author Kate DiCamillo is a fan of Peanuts comic strips.
  • Ben & Matilda can read eachother’s minds, really, if you don’t beleive me then watch the video above!

Flora And Ulysses Movie Synopsis

Disney’s “Flora & Ulysses” is a delightful comedy-adventure based on the Newbery Award-winning book about 10-year old Flora, an avid comic book fan and a self-avowed cynic, whose parents have recently separated.

After rescuing a squirrel she names Ulysses, Flora is amazed to discover he possesses unique superhero powers which take them on an adventure of humorous complications that ultimately change Flora’s life–and her outlook–forever.
