Dustin Tyler’s Bio, Age & Rise
Dustin Tyler was born in the United States on October 13, 1985, in Mankato, Minnesota, and grew up in a middle-class family. No, Dustin Tyler’s parents are not Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock; he was raised by his parents (Dustin’s parents were never married). At a young age, Dustin’s mother married his stepfather, and the family moved to Oregon. Tyler has shared in an interview for Thrive Global that he had a defiant personality growing up, often skipping school and hanging with the wrong sort of crowd. Dustin Tyler parents tried to give him a normal family life, but it seems social pressure got the best of him. “The kids I chose to associate with probably weren’t the best choice, as nowadays most of them have either passed away from drug overdoses or have been in and out of the corrections system,” Tyler explained. He had an epiphany during his sophomore year of high school to turn his life around, so he started attending evening classes and eventually earned his GED. After high school, Tyler had various jobs, including working at Spencer’s gift shop and even becoming a licensed barber, earning his certification at Phagans Grants Pass College of Beauty, and working as a professional barber at Great Clips. He is also a tattoo artist, which explains why the avid tattoo lover has easier access to gaining more tattoos—a factor that led to his rise to success on Instagram.

His Instagram shows his love for tattoos and fashion, and he is followed by the likes of Kelly Osbourne and adult film star Jenna Jameson. Catapulting on his Instagram fame and joining the list of richest Instagram stars, Tyler launched his TikTok channel, which now has over 1.8 million followers. On TikTok, Tyler has made outlandish claims about not only his birth parents but also that he was a former child actor.
Dustin Tyler’s Acting Career
In TikTok videos, Dustin Tyler has joked that he had a television career and was a former child actor on TV shows. He often posts clips next to actor Matt Bennett, who played Robbie Shapiro in the TV show Victorious, pretending he is him, infuriating some users who claim he is using fake content as clout. Delving further into Dustin Tyler’s possible acting career, a quick Google search does have an American actor, Dustin Tyler, popping up on IMDB with two credits to the name, first in a 2021 film called The Demon’s Waltz and an upcoming 2023 film called Stay Out of the Basement. Could this Dustin Tyler, who made his film debut in The Demon’s Waltz, be the same social media guru?
The Demon’s Waltz is a film about “a private investigator who is hired to delve into the origins of a mysterious TikTok challenge that has caused the deaths of several people.” The film was actually inspired by writer/director Ryan Callaway’s hatred of the TikTok app, which only seems fitting to have an actual TikTok star cast in a film about a TikTok challenge. However, after viewing the movie myself, while the actor Dustin Tyler has many of the same features and body measurement as the Dustin Tyler social media influencer, there are many red flags that point to no.
First off, in the film, Tyler’s character, Kyle, is only shown in a few scenes, which are dark and have him wearing a hooded sweatshirt the entire time. This may lead some to believe it is the same Tyler from TikTok, and the hood is included to possibly hide his tattoos. But there are many facial features that separate the two Dustins, such as the drastic differences in their noses. In the film, Kyle has only a few speaking parts, which are mostly yelling, so trying to compare their voices is almost impossible.
Another big warning sign that social media star Dustin Tyler is not the same Tyler from The Demon’s Waltz is the lack of discussion of it on social media. Although Tyler is known for keeping much of his personal life private, he does use his social media platforms to promote his businesses. So, if he was a part of these films, it would be safe to assume he would talk about them on his TikTok or Instagram account. There is no mention of him being a part of any of these films on his accounts.
As for the upcoming film Stay Out of the Basement, which is directected by the same director as The Demon’s Waltz, Ryan Callaway, and includes Dustin Tyler in its cast. With the information learned above, it would seem that this is the same Dustin Tyler that was in the 2021 Callaway film and not the social media influencer.
