Death and Other Details Age Rating Parents Guide

Let’s take a look at what concerned parents need to know about the age ratings of the series before letting their younger children watch Death and Other Details.

LanguageDeath and Other Details contains strong language, with profanity used throughout. Lookout words include f*ck, sh*t, a**h*le, jerk, d*mn, and g-d d*mn.

Mature Content: The biggest lookout in the series, other than the stronger language, is the sexual and violent content. The series revolves around a murder and shows images of the dead body, bloody, with a harpoon rammed through him and pinned to the wall. It is very heavy on the sexual content, showing characters engaging in sexual intercourse and oral sex. Characters are also shown nude, revealing bare breasts and buttocks. Alcohol use and abuse are included in the series.

Age Rating of the Series Death and Other Details: Hulu’s Death and Other Details series rating rating has an MA-TV rating by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA ratings) for intense and graphic depictions of violence, explicit sexual content, strong language, alcohol use, and exploration of dark and psychologically intense themes, and the parental guidelines advisory recommends it for mature audiences, an older audience, an adult audience, young viewers, young adults, little kids, older kids, and teens aged 17 years and older. The suggestion of parental guidance or a legal guardian (adult guardian) for this restricted MA-TV category is highly suggested for young children, teenage children, and young kids under 17 years of age in this MA-TV-rated motion picture for adult material. The minimum age recommendation is 17 years old.

Overall Thoughts

Hulu’s Death and Other Details takes viewers aboard a luxurious cruise ship, where seemingly harmless Imogene Scott (Beane) stumbles upon a murder. Enter the eccentric and washed-up detective Rufus Cotesworth (Patinkin), and the unlikely duo teams up to solve the mystery.

The best part of the show is Patinkin’s portrayal of the sardonic and unpredictable Rufus, which is the undeniable highlight of the series. His charismatic performance brings depth and humor to the character, even as he navigates his own demons. Beane’s Imogene is a compelling protagonist, though some viewers might find her initially abrasive.

Death and other Details lavish visuals of the cruise ship and exotic locations are a feast for the eyes. However, the show struggles to maintain a consistent tone. The dark humor sometimes clashes with the dramatic undertones, leaving viewers feeling a bit disoriented.

The show, however, keeps viewers guessing with its intricate plot and unexpected twists. While the whodunit aspect might not be groundbreaking, the journey is entertaining enough, thanks to the witty dialogue and quirky characters.

Overall, Hulu’s Death and Other Details is a watchable show with its fair share of strengths and weaknesses. Patinkin’s performance is a sure winner, and the plot keeps you engaged. However, the tonal inconsistencies and underdeveloped supporting characters might leave some viewers wanting more
