In PIXAR’S Elemental: Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental” is an all-new, original feature film set in Element City, where Fire-, Water-, Earth- and Air-residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in. The voice cast includes Leah Lewis as the fiery Ember; Mamoudou Athie as the water-guy Wade; Ronnie del Carmen as Ember’s soon-to-be retired dad, Bernie; Shila Ommi as Ember’s love-seeking mom, Cinder; Wendi McLendon-Covey as Wade’s stormy and Air-Ball-loving boss, Gale; Catherine O’Hara as Wade’s welcoming mom, Brook; Mason Wertheimer as Ember’s admiring neighbor, Clod; and Joe Pera as an overgrown city bureaucrat, Fern.
Elemental Age Rating Parent’s Guide
Let’s take a look at what parents need to know about the age rating of the movie before letting their young children watch Pixar’s Elemental.
Language: Pixar’s Elemental contains mild language, with no profanity used. The strongest words viewers will come across are “dang, jerk, stupid, poop, and mild insults like “get off your lazy ash” and “Oh my g-d”
Mature Content: As far as adult themes go, this film has a few but is very geared towards a young audience. There is a theme around death and grief, which may be triggering for some viewers. The MPAA rating states peril, but there really isn’t much to worry about, with no violence in the film. As far as sexual content goes, the film has a few references that kids may pick up on, such as a character using the phrase “hanky panky.” There is also a same-sex couple that is briefly shown. There is also no alcohol or drug content in the film.
Age Rating of the Movie Elemental: PIXAR’s Elemental has a PG rating by the Motion Picture Association (MPAA ratings) for some mild peril, brief language, and thematic elements, and the parental guidelines advisory recommends it for mature audiences, an adult audience, young adults, teens, and older kids aged 8 and older. The suggestion of parental guidance or a legal guardian (adult guardian) is highly suggested for younger kids (young viewers) under 8 years of age in this PG motion picture for adult material. The minimum age recommendation is 8 years old; it is not suitable for younger viewers.
Overall Thoughts
As with any Disney film, especially a Pixar movie, the animation and visuals in Elemental are top-notch. From the opening sequence, you are transported into a magical world of wonder and beauty. The attention to detail is incredible, with each element – fire, water, earth, and air – being depicted in stunning detail. The colors are vibrant and the animation is smooth and seamless.
What’s even more impressive is the way the elements are brought to life. Fire flickers and dances across the screen, water ripples and reflects light, earth rumbles and shakes with weight, and air flows and gusts in a way that is both believable and enchanting.
The attention to detail doesn’t stop with the elements themselves, but extends to the environment and backgrounds as well. Each scene is richly textured and full of intricate details that make you feel like you are really there, experiencing the magic of the world.
The music in Pixar’s Elemental plays a pivotal role in the world of Elemental, with the original soundtrack by composer Thomas Newman creating an immersive and emotionally charged experience for the audience.
Newman’s music captures the essence of each element and its respective character. The music for Earth, for example, is deep and grounded, reflecting the strength and stability of the element. Water, on the other hand, is fluid and gentle, echoing the calming and soothing nature of the element.
One of the standout moments in the soundtrack is during the climactic battle between Fire and Water.
