Ground Hogs Day Coloring Pages
Happy Groundhog Day to everyone! I hope you all enjoy these groundhog coloring pages as a fun tradition to celebrate the special day. The first Groundhog Day celebration in the United States in Punxsutawney was the brainchild of local newspaper editor Clymer Freas, who sold the idea to a group of businessmen and groundhog hunters, known collectively as the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club. This American custom has evolved into a yearly event in which the groundhog, now known as Punxsutawney Phil, emerges from his hole, with most people hoping to see or not see their shadow, and most hoping for a cloudy day. According to tradition, if a groundhog comes out of its hole on this day and sees its shadow, it gets scared and runs back into its burrow, predicting six more weeks of winter weather; no shadow means an early spring.
