I have a confession. Before I actually had the opportunity to VISIT Milwaukee, all I really knew about it was what I saw on the show Laverne & Shirley. Remember those zany roommates who worked as bottlecappers in Milwaukee for the fictitious brewery called Shotz Brewery? Yep, that was the extent of my knowledge of Milwaukee. So, when I had the opportunity to visit, even though it was only for two days, I jumped at the chance to learn more about it! And let me tell you, I was so glad I did! Although, it is very known for it’s breweries in the area, there is so much more to do in Milwaukee for the entire family. Check it out:
Five Must-Do’s While Visiting Milwaukee
The Public Market
The Public Market is located in the Historical Third Ward neighborhood in downtown Milwaukee. It is one of the best public markets in America and one of the most unique downtown food destinations.
Bursting with one-of-a-kind, high quality selections of artisan & ethnic products and freshly-made prepared foods, you’re sure to enjoy shopping the independent merchants of the Milwaukee Public Market.
From the fresh produce….
To wines & spices.
The Public Market has something to attract everyone’s fancy.
Including the candy shop, my daughter (and I) fell in love with!
Tour Sprecher Brewery
Sprecher Brewery is a small brewing company that is reviving the Old World brewing traditions that once made Milwaukee famous.
The brewery tour is led by the brewing guide and will take you through the entire process. From the aging cellar..
To the bottling line and warehouse.
At the end of the tour, you can enjoy free samples of Sprecher beer AND soda, making this a great tour to enjoy with the entire family!
Transfer Pizzeria Cafe
As a foodie, I have to admit that Transfer Pizzeria Cafe has been one of my new favorite pizza destinations! Their menu has a unique selection from the traditional all meat, to a pizza containing a pesto sauce and even gluten-free options!
The pizza at transfer Pizzeria was so enjoyable, we had to make a second stop before we headed home!
Discovery World
Discovery World is a Science and Technology center that is fun for the whole family. You know science and technology is right up my alley and I love to expose the kids to ALL THINGS SCIENCE. When I saw Milwaukee housed a leading science center, I had to take the kids to visit it!
The 120,000 square facility includes interactive exhibits, the Reiman Aquarium, movies in the Digital Theater, learning labs and even theater shows!
Discovery World has SO many activities to do inside it’s walls, the family and I could’ve spent days there and still not have covered everything there was to see. This is a must-do destination for a family friendly Milwaukee visit!
Stay at the Courtyard Marriott
I know a hotel destination is a strange “must-do” experience but my stay at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Milwaukee was an experience in itself.
The modern lobby at our Courtyard Milwaukee Downtown hotel provides greater flexibility and choices for our guests, including flexible work spaces and free Wi-Fi. At the center of it all is The Bistro – Eat. Drink. Connect., your destination for a great breakfast, Starbucks coffee, or drinks and dinner during the evening. The downtown Milwaukee hotel near Miller Park is conveniently located across the street from the Wisconsin Center. Lounge in your comfortable sitting area with a cup of coffee or enjoy a complimentary newspaper available at the front desk Monday through Friday.
