Ingredients

1 cup oat flour (substitutions: almond flour, coconut flour, whole wheat flour, cassava flour, all purpose flour)

2 eggs

2 scoops chocolate whey protein powder or peanut butter protein powder

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup of white sugar (substitutions: coconut sugar, brown sugar, refined sugar)

1 cup milk of choice (almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk)

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce (substitutions: coconut oil, vegetable oil)

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cream tartar

1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a silicone donut pan with non-stick cooking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients (flour, cacao powder, sugar, protein powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cream tartar). Add the wet ingredients (eggs, milk, yogurt, vanilla extract, and applesauce) and mix together in a small bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry in the large mixing bowl and mix until there are no clumps. Either spoon the batter into the doughnut pan or place the batter into a piping bag and pipe the batter into the pan. Bake donuts for about 10–15 minutes. Stick with a toothpick to test if they are done; the toothpick should come out clean. Immediately after donuts exit, add 4-5 chocolate chips to the top of each donut. Remove the donuts from the pan and place them on a wire rack to cool completely. Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature.
