Does the sequel Trolls World Tour live up to the original Trolls movie? Is it worth the $20 rental fee? Will your kids enjoy it? I am here to fill you in on all the dish!
Let me begin by saying, Trolls World Tour is NOT better than the original Trolls movie. The movie is fun, it is colorful and it has the music we all know and love but the story line does fall short and will have you wondering if you are watching Trolls or a Marvel movie. Yes, I said a Marvel movie. It sounds strange but check out my movie review and I will elaborate.

A Great Message
The film industry does it again, taking a fun movie and delivering a powerful message to kids in a way they can understand and relate to. Trolls World Tour brings back the Pop Land Trolls we know who graces our ears with fun pop music but also introduces us to different musical worlds such as Rock, Country, Jazz and even K-Pop!
While new Troll-comer Queen Barb (Rock Troll) wants to collect all of the musical strings to create a “One Trolls nation under ROCK”, the Trolls suddenly realize being different is NOT a bad thing. It is our uniqueness that makes us special and the combination of all our differences (music) is what makes this world one big beautiful harmony.
Did I Just Watch A Marvel Movie?
I mentioned it earlier in my review, Trolls World Tour reminded me of a Marvel movie. In fact, it seems like a rip off of Avengers: Infinity War to me! Let me explain. You see, Queen of Rock Barb Troll is on a mission to collect all the musical strings (Country music string, Pop music string, etc) to place them in her musical guitar to create one big nation of ROCK. Does this not remind you of Thanos collecting the stone for the gaunlet?! Don’t worry, while the plot seems much the same as Infinity War, Trolls World Tour does not end with a heart wrenching snap that may leave kids in trauma!
The Music Delivers
The best part of the film was what I love most about the first, the music! Actually, this is the only part of the sequel that I thought exceeded the first film. Trolls World Tour not only brings in the toe tapping pop tunes but with the different genres of music in this one, we also get different genres of songs that will appeal to everyone!
Overall Thoughts
While Trolls World Tour is NOT better than the first, I still believe it is an enjoyable family film and worth the watch! My daughter watched it with me and absolutely loved it and lets face it, what else is there to watch while being quarantined? This was a pleasant get away from the craziness of real life. It teaches kids a great lesson, I enjoyed the music and it was entertaining.
You can rent it for 48 hours at a price of $19.99. While the price may seem high, I have had a few conversations about this, when it comes to this film I do believe it is the right price point. This IS a family film which means the majority of people will view this with kids and you are definitely getting your money worth. In addition, you are able to watch the film over and over within that 48 hours.
