Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery Parents Guide

In Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery: Senior Detective Terry Seattle (Will Arnett) is back and this time, the case is critical. Along with his two celebrity guest stars, Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph, he is on a mission to figure out…who killed Santa? But here’s the catch: Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph aren’t being given the script. They have no idea what’s about to happen to them. Together, with Terry Seattle (and many surprises), they will have to improvise their way through the case… but it will be up to both of them to name the killer.

Let’s take a look at what parents need to know before letting their kids watch Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery.

Language: Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery contains strong language, with profanity used throughout. Lookout words include: f*ck, sh*t, b*tch, a**, a**h*le, d*ck, d*mn, crap, and phrases like “Jesus Christ” and “For Christ’s sake.”

Mature Content: Other than the language, there are some other things parents need to be aware of, including violence and nudity. Santa is stabbed with a candy cane, which can be triggering for some smaller kids. There is also a scene that shows a male character completely nude; his penis is blurred out, but there is a clear shot of his nude backside. Characters are also shown consuming alcohol.

Overall Thoughts

Netflix’s Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery sticks with the same format as the show from which this sequel originated, Netflix’s Murderville, where a murder needs to be solved (this time it is Santa Claus) and Detective Terry Seattle (Will Arnett) enlists some guest hosts to solve the case. Like before, Will Arnett somewhat follows a script, while the guests completely improv it. Guest stars, along with Arnett, then interrogated suspects, who in turn gave clues along with misinformation, and at the end of the show, the actors then had to guess who the killer was as best they could.

One of the best things about Who Killed Santa? A Murdeville Murder Mystery and the series in originated from is the performance given by Will Arnett. Arnett not only delivers some hilarious quips as the sassy detective, but he is masterful at pushing the guest stars to put aside their inhibitions and commit to the zany story. In this holiday special, guest stars Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph join Arnett to solve Santa’s murder, and as the show progresses, both Bateman and Rudolph are made to interrogate suspects in different accents and character types that will have viewers cracking up. Unlike in the original Netflix series Murderville, these guest stars are seasoned professionals who rarely break character, diving in head first with eagerness and unafraid of any embarrassment their roles may bestow upon them.

Netflix’s Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery has some surprises with additional guest stars that viewers won’t see coming but totally enjoy. These surprises were well worth it, so try to stay away from spoilers that may ruin the experience. This sequel delivers all the belly laughs as before, holding up to the original series while also having a little fun mystery to solve. Audiences can follow along, taking note of clues given, and make their own guesses at the end, as the show always reveals who the killer is and points out the clues given to lead one to the correct suspect. It’s not only an entertaining show to watch but a rewarding one that immerses viewers into the whodunit mystery, all packaged in a big bow for viewers this holiday season.
