Language: Fantastic Beasts 3 The Secrets Of Dumbledore had extremely mild language. The harshest words viewers will come across are phrases like “bloody hell.”
Mature Content: The biggest warning parents need to be made aware of in the film is the violent content. Overall Thoughts
Fantastic Beasts 3 The Secrets of Dumbledore is a pure delight made for fans of the franchise. Not only does the film bring back much of the humor viewers remember from the first film, but they will also get a return to Hogwarts for a little bit of Harry Potter nostalgia. If that wasn’t enough, audiences will receive a bit of surprise and delight as the ever popular “golden snitch” makes an appearance that will have fans cheering!
Where Fantastic Beasts 3 The Secrets of Dumbledore excels is in combining a perfect balance of “dark” and grim with whimsical magic. The Crimes of Grindelwald went too far with the gloomy and glum, while not being able to break through the wall of the playful and mischievous magical world we all know and love. Some have claimed to enjoy that one more, however, because of its more serious tone. But to me, precisely what makes any movie set in the Potter universe work well is its ability to blend elements of humor, drama, fantasy, and spooky danger. These things are what have endeared millions since the inception of turning up in droves for each film. While Secrets of Dumbledore still contains some of those dark elements, keeping with the tone of the franchise, it was able to successfully incorporate the overall fun-loving tone of the prior installments of the series.
Fans of the Potter universe will find much to love here, and newcomers will be utterly lost. I don’t imagine too many people would begin their journey into the world of Harry Potter with this installment, so no worries there. The acting is par for the course here, with Mads Mikkelson filling in for Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. While not as sinister as Depp, Mikkleson chose to portray Grindelwald with a quiet, even stoic menace that instills a sense of impending dread in the audience. Again, this speaks to the balance of things needed for a successful film in this franchise. Without a doubt, this will be a hit, as will any subsequent films in the series. Where they will choose to go beyond this is anyone’s guess, but wherever that may be, there will be a ready and willing audience waiting patiently by.
